The Narrative Matters

31 million active duty service members, veterans, and their families live in the U.S.—but their stories are often misunderstood or misrepresented in media.

Media Coverage Breakdown:

  • 40% Negative

  • 25% Positive

  • 35% Neutral

Despite their service and sacrifice, the veteran profile is still widely misrepresented in entertainment and news.

MV Awards exists to change that—to elevate authentic voices, challenge outdated stereotypes, and create a more accurate, empowering narrative.

The combined military and veteran community — over 31 million strong — is a powerful part of our nation, too often overlooked in media, despite its potential to drive a positive and uplifting narrative.
